How Tricatel uses Bridge to work on original soundtracks

Tricatel is an independent French record label founded by producer and artist Bertrand Burgalat in 1995. The label is known for its easy-listening and retro-guardism, and has housed artists such as April March, Michel Houellebecq, Valérie Lemercier and Burgalat himself. Tricatel produces and promotes albums, compilations and original soundtracks, frequently collaborating with professionals in the film and TV industries.
We recently had the pleasure of speaking to Bertrand Burgalat on how using Bridge.audio helped him resolve one of the biggest pain points he experienced as a music producer collaborating with film and TV professionals on original soundtracks.
The Pain Point: No easy way to send, store and track countless demos with multiple collaborators
At the start of our conversion, Bertrand Burgalat shares that he’s currently in the process of creating an original soundtrack for a cabaret series:
“I’m working on a TV series where the music plays a very important role. I got involved from the very start of the production, creating demos the production team could use as playback during filming. That means all the demos had to be ready beforehand, and needed to be tailored to the needs of each member of the team. The sound engineer and the choreographer needed a slightly different version of the track than the director. For example, some people need a metronome included in the track, and others don’t.”

Prior to discovering Bridge, Burgalat tells us he was very reliant on WeTransfer to send such demos to his collaborators. However, the drawbacks of WeTransfer are well-known: links often expire very quickly, files often end up on personal computers and are thus made inaccessible to other members of the team who may need them.
Moreover, creating an original soundtrack for a film is a lengthy collaboration that often involves exchanging a large number of demos that get refined over time. Though WeTransfer enables professionals to send tracks to each other, it doesn’t help them store and organize the hundreds of demos they send back and forth to each other as the weeks and months go by. Files can easily get lost and demo versions can easily get mixed up.
The Solution: One platform. Multiple personalized links.
With Bridge.audio, you can centralize all your audio files into one workspace, and then categorize your library of tracks into separate projects that you can send to separate people. Here’s how Bertrand set things up for his project:
“For this film I was able to create a separate Bridge project for the movie director, the sound engineer and the choreographer, giving each of them access to only the tracks they need. I even made a project of my own where I keep a copy of all the demos we discard, as we regularly end up revisiting them for new scenes down the line. So it’s always nice to have them on hand, and my Bridge project makes them easily accessible.”
Bridge also enables you to send personalized links for each of your projects, thus giving you the ability to track when your project has been opened, when your tracks have been streamed and when your files have been downloaded.
“What I love about Bridge is that it enables you to get an overview of where everyone is at in the process. Sometimes I make 50 demos and it’s nice to know which ones have been listened to.”
Overall, Bertrand Burgalat tells us he’s been an avid user of Bridge.audio for years, same thing for his collaborators at Tricatel. Though Burgalat uses the platform largely to facilitate his production process, he says his colleagues use it primarily to send electronic press kits of their artists to media outlets for promotional purposes.
“Everyone at Tricatel uses Bridge a little differently, but everyone uses it a lot. It’s a tool that really saves us a lot of time and brings us a great deal of clarity. I don’t even know if there are alternatives because I don’t feel the need to look for any. It’s a real pleasure to use Bridge.”
Here is an example of how Tricatel uses the Bridge inbox to receive track submissions from their website in one centralized place.
